Leicester injuries: bad news on Wesley Fofana’s expected return
Brendan Rodgers has updated media about Wesley Fofana’s expected return date. And, unfortunately, it is bad news for Leicester City fans.
Bad news, indeed: Fofana has been a revelation for the Foxes this season, replicating the transition and impact of Caglar Soyuncu when he took over from Harry Maguire. At the time Maguire left Filbert Way for Old Trafford and Manchester United, Soyuncu wasn’t expected to fill the Englishman’s boots. Neither did people think the Turk would arguably improve the team, with regard to his predecessor’s prowess.
Similarly, the Frenchman came into the side certainly as a fairly unknown quantity for us analysts that follow and focus on the Premier League. Yet Fofana’s influence was also immediate; that’s not to suggest Brendan Rodgers or the Blue Army forgot about Soyuncu’s wonderful displays and inspiring on pitch exploits as a leading centre-back.
Fofana’s proficiency for a then 19 year old who’d just left his country definitely eased the blow of losing his teammate, Soyuncu, to injury. Since that time, Fofana has effectively kept soyuncu from being one of the starting eleven players.

However, during Rodgers’ recent pre-match press conference before meeting Wolverhampton Wanderers in the English top-flight, an update was given on a hamstring issue being nursed by Fofana. Giving the Turkey international an opportunity to reclaim his spot in the side. Hopefully the 20-year-old’s development won’t now derail.
