Leicester City fans will be delighted to hear that the Foxes have opened talks with Youri Tielemans over an extended, £100,000-a-week contract.

Clearly Youri Tielemans is the type of player who can be a club captain, an on-field message for the manager. Along with almost certainly being a candidate to go directly into high profile managing himself upon retirement.

Yet that won’t be for a while as the Belgian is deceivingly only 23-years-old; a competent debut at age 16 in the Champions League is an exceptional feat. One that is reminiscent of midfield greats such as former Barcelona, Chelsea and Arsenal star Cesc Fabregas.

Talking of major clubs around the world, we have all heard previous speculation that Manchester United and Liverpool are eyeing up Belgium’s Red Devil.

However, according to The Sun, Tielemans is negotiating a new deal with the King Power side:

"And he [Tielemans] revealed he will happily extend his current deal which runs until 2023, with talks currently underway on a new £100,000-a-week deal.– Graeme Bryce, The Sun"

Leicester City manager on possible UEL success

In a recent press conference, Brendan Rodgers was asked about how important European success this year is to him personally. In response, the gaffer gave a reply that I didn’t quite expect, although he seems to compartmentalise on a regular basis. Whilst seemingly detaching himself emotionally from a scenario or subject in order to reach a goal.

Rodgers said that UEL glory wasn’t particularly special to him – despite not achieving much in Europe during his otherwise great career so far – but luckily for fans of the east Midlanders, the former-Celtic boss is focused on Leicester doing well in the competition. The club’s progress is more vital to Rodgers, according to him.
