According to a report, Barcelona are considering an approach for Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers. Here is FoL’s assessment.

If this rumour is true, then the Foxes must act to prevent the Spanish giants from poaching Rodgers. It is as simple as that. What that usually means is the offer of a longer contract – coinciding with a vast pay rise. Essentially it’s all about the money. Sorry to burst your bubble about the world. Well, possibly more accurately, the sporting world.

Unfortunately for the King Power side, the Spaniards arguably have the best pulling power of any club. Whilst Leicester do hold a certain cult mystique, sadly this is lesser power than Barca and cannot compete on many levels presently.

Although, Leicester’s ascension on football’s global stage is enhancing; while Barcelona seem to be descending slightly from relevance or importance. Lionel Messi’s eventual retirement may send them into drastic decline.

Do Leicester City have a problem?

Despite the recent Europa League let down versus Slavia Prague, the Northern Irishman is undertaking an overall marvellous job on Filbert way. Consequently it is no surprise that other, larger teams are interested in the boss.

With Ronald Koeman’s future at Camp Nou uncertain, our friends at 90MIN claim that ‘Rodgers name is being discussed as a possible option’ to be the new Barca boss.

Following the aforementioned fairly terrible UEL exit at home to the Czechs, Leicester goalkeeper and on-field captain Kasper Schmeichel expressed his disappointment at the 2-0 defeat. Leeds United’s former stopper said this:

"“[It is] very disappointing. I don’t think we can have too many complaints.“I think we have to be brutally honest with ourselves, look over two legs, the better team won, which is a shame.“I think it’s too early right now to see any positives. It hurts right now, it stings and it will do for a while.”– Kasper SchmeichelVia lcfc.com"
