Leicester City are reportedly close to signing a Jamie Vardy replacement who’ll arrive in the summer. Here’s what we know about the Odsonne Edouard deal.

I hope my title doesn’t fill you with worry: of course Vardy will still be a hugely significant part of the Foxes squad, and probably still the starting striker next season, although it is great to prospectively have an eventual successor secured.

Naturally the process of the former-England man being phased out, so to speak, will be a long one. Thankfully that means us Leicester fans potentially get another two or three years of Vardy on Filbert Way. Hopefully much of that will be with supporters in King Power Stadium.

Talk has reignited about Celtic goalscorer Odsonne Edouard joining the east Midlands team this summer. This time reports claim that a deal is close to being set.

Leicester City apparently close in on significant signing

Leicester and the Hoops have recent history, as Foxes manager Brendan Rodgers traded of England for Scotland and upset much of Celtic’s fan base.

However, Daily Mail says that a £15 million transfer fee between the clubs for the Frenchman is imminent:

"Leicester City believe they have won the race to sign Celtic striker Odsonne Edouard.Sportsmail understands that the player has indicated he wants to join his former boss Brendan Rodgers at the King Power Stadium and a deal is close to being agreed for a fee of about £15million.(Craig Hope and Simon Jones, Daily Mail)"

According to media, other recently linked potential signings for Leicester include Danish winger Mikkel Damsgaard and Ismail Jakobs, a German left-sided player. Agreements between clubs can be made in advance of the summer window opening, however, obviously players cannot switch sides until preseason prior to 2021/22.
