Former Fox Adrien Silva complains about treatment at Leicester
Former Fox Adrien Silva, who certainly did endure a torrid time on Filbert Way, has complained about his treatment at Leicester City.
I still feel sorry for the Portuguese over the wasted part of his career spent with the Foxes. It was such a calamitous and unmitigated disaster!
To be fair to the King Power outfit, the embarrassment the transfer caused was amplified because of the surprise of it: any fan would be annoyed, as well as shocked, to see their team fail so miserably on deadline day and to be made an example of by FIFA, but the club usually worked with such due diligence and sagacious prudence.
Silva is doing well now, he is currently featuring regularly at Sampdoria. Although, he hasn’t forgotten his fateful spell with Leicester; the 32-year-old claims the 14 second debacle wasn’t the worst of the situation – but his treatment by then boss Claude Puel. The midfielder asserts that he should have had chances under the Frenchman that were not offered, with no explanation. There is more here.
Jamie Vardy correct to remain at Leicester City
Arsenal legend and once England forward, Ian Wright, says Vardy made the correct choice to reject the Gunners’ advances in 2016. After the east Midlands team won the Premier League title in 2015/16, naturally much of their talent was tapped up – the No.9 being the prime example, alongside Danny Drinkwater, Riyad Mahrez and N’golo Kante.
However, despite the offer of huge wages according to then Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger, Vardy decided to decline a move to London. At the time, widespread speculation suggested that Vardy’s wife Rebekah fancied the switch for the family. Yet Vardy’s legend was to be reinforced at City. Wright said this:
"“With the Vardy one, it’s even better for him because he was thinking ‘Arsenal are after me’ – they really wanted him.“They really did want him. They went in hard. But if you’ve won a league at Leicester, and you’re comfortable there. At Arsenal, you’re going to be under immense pressure to try and win the league, and you’ve already done it.“You can get the same money [at Leicester]. Why [would you go to Arsenal?] Can you imagine?.”– Ian WrightVia Sportslens"
