Popular rising Leicester City star, Kelechi Iheanacho, is on the verge of signing a new contract with the Foxes. What does this means for him and the team?

As reported last week by The Sun, Kelechi Iheanacho will likely sign a new “bumper” contract with the King Power club imminently. His current deal is running out with only a year remaining. Yet recent performances will apparently earned the Nigeria international as much as a half increase on his overall salary, when he prospectively puts pen to paper in the next while.

Iheanacho is on a goalscoring run, even managing six goal involvements in his previous two games: a hat-trick versus Sheffield United in the Premier League, along an assist and two finishes in the stunning FA Cup victory against Manchester United. In all honesty, he wasn’t particularly valued on Filbert Way by many, possibly up until the 2020/21 campaign. Let alone was he thought of as the heir apparent to the illustrious Jamie Vardy.

However, after recent impressions which have inevitably made Iheanacho somewhat of a footballing folk hero, an increased amount of supporters and pundits are labelling the attacker as a possible successor to the former-England forward.

What’s next for Leicester City

Before his amazing contemporary exploits for the east Midlands team, Foxes of Leicester would have invariably explained that the 24-year-old’s involvement in the starting side in the near future is dependant on Vardy’s form. Simple.

Although, with Iheanacho almost supporting his elder at present – with regards to actually netting – as well as the 3-4-1-2 formation favouring the excelling three centre-backs, Iheanacho will remain in the line-up for as long as he continues performing, basically. His Leicester destiny is in his own hands!
