Leicester: Brendan Rodgers misconception disproved by bust-up video
There is a common misconception about Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers, which is proven wrong by an old video featuring a bust-up with Raheem Sterling.
As a Leicester City analyst, but a fan first and foremost, I don’t think any manager from the past or presently coaching could have done a more efficient job than Rodgers! Is there higher praise that can be bestowed on the Northern Irishman than that?
Rodgers’ meticulousness in planning for games and matching or bettering the opposition is second to none this season. In fact, the Foxes boss now has victories over all current so-called ‘Big Six’ opponents’ gaffers; Ole Gunnar Solskjaer completing the unfortunate set in Leicester’s FA Cup quarter-final triumph last weekend.
There aren’t really any areas in which the boss seems lacking, under prepared, worried, or where supporters feel as though this incredible young King Power team could take a battering in a contest. Substitutions or game management could have been superior on one or two occasions in this strange campaign, but Rodgers has a massively high appraisal score from us at Foxes of Leicester.
The only aspect of the former Liverpool chief’s coaching I can mention that some people say they’d prefer to be different or amended, would be Rodgers’ supposed inability to chastise players who let the side down, rare as that scenario is. Though it appears that is a common misconception about him: as I refer you to the video below.
Hopefully you’ve been able to click and watch the clip from the Reds’ 2012 pre-season training camp in the United States, as it is a particularly revealing insight into Rodgers’ practices – if challenged by talented, youthful athletes.
At Leicester, the 48-year-old’s demeanour is ever-positive: he exhibits nonstop encouragement to his squad, even when they make poor errors. Nevertheless, it is good to know that he can dish out some hairdryer treatment when required.
