Foxes legend: Leicester should be confident of UCL qualification
A Foxes legend believes that his former club Leicester City should be confident of attaining Champions League qualification this season.
And Gerry Taggart is not wrong: the key to the Foxes’ return to the most prestigious tournament in global domestic football is actually confidence, according to Foxes of Leicester’s ironic viewpoint.
If you’re not familiar with Taggart, he is a Leicester legend, as reinforced by the club. The one-time defender won a trophy while on Filbert Way, the League Cup in the 1999/2000 campaign. It was a great day – I was there.
Taggart now works as an analyst and summariser for Leicester at their matches and for game previews, reviews, along with generally commenting on all team issues. Just like the rest of the Blue Army, he knows there were problems as 2019/20 expired, it was obvious.
However, recently the retired left-sided player told lcfc.com that he thinks the east Midlands outfit should be buoyed by their displays this term:
"“Nothing’s been achieved yet, but it’s been an excellent turnaround from Brendan and the players. There was not too much investment in players, which is understandable in the circumstances, and you’ve got to say Leicester are sitting in a healthy position.…As far as I’m concerned, there’s every reason to be confident for the end of the season.”– Gerry Taggart"
Update on Leicester City fans’ possible return to stadia
Fingers crosses, eh? That’s right, the Leicester faithful may be able to return for a massive game, as per BBC Sport. The Foxes‘ FA Cup semi-final tie with Southampton is one of two clashes that may feature large crowds in stadia as a pilot event.
Cabinet Minister Oliver Dowden informed BBC sport that one of the 17/18 April fixtures will be chosen; Manchester City versus Chelsea is the other option.
