Leicester transfer news: Foxes make Cengiz Under decision
Foxes of Leicester brings you the latest Leicester City transfer news, as it is claimed the club have made a decision on Cengiz Under’s future.
It hasn’t really worked out for the turk on Filbert Way. While there is no question mark about his prowess as a top-level winger, some elite professionals simply don’t make that next transition to the highest echelon as a starter for a big European club.
And with the Foxes well on the way to being a significant club competing in the Champions League, they are looking for players who can help maintain the team’s lofty ambitions. Unfortunately Under appears not to be the right man for the job – which is still filling Riyad Mahrez’s shoes after almost three years.

Presently the Roma loanee is injured and unavailable for selection, which has definitely hurt his chances quite a bit: with Harvey Barnes and James Maddison out, effervescence was needed on the wing, it was provided by wingbacks. Along with Ayoze Perez’s decent contributions and Kelechi Iheanacho’s dramatic recent introduction as a constant starter/assistance provider for Jamie Vardy.
If Under was currently fit, he wouldn’t get into the starting line-up, if we analyse Brendan Rodgers’ past form on the issue. Yet the former would have been given a few extra minutes in comparison to his usual game-time. The diminutive forward may have been able to prove himself further in that scenario, by repeating the fine assists he made for Vardy earlier in the campaign. Under might have even started finding the net for Leicester himself.
However, it feels like this is all academic now, as the club have apparently made their minds up about the Turkey international’s future, which will supposedly be away from Leicestershire.
Sport Witness suggests, via Sporx, that the east Midlanders won’t sign Under permanently, nor ask for another loan.
"‘having decided not to use the option, Leicester City will send the national football player back to Rome at the end of the season’."
