Leicester City’s how to win

Every supporter will have a different perspective of how Leicester City can get the three points, or just keep a point, during this incredibly tough fixture.

There will be those who want to go on the all-out attack, with the star-filled Foxes team going toe-to-toe with positive and possession-based football. Those supporters will want to see Maddison, potentially Under and Albrighton, and Vardy in a standard 4-3-3 formation. Doing this will see Leicester concede a lot of opportunities to a high pressing Manchester team.

There will be those who want to go on the defence, holding back the swarm of world class players engaging in a physical onslaught of passing and switching of play. This would require a significant degree of compactness and defensive composure – something Soyuncu and Fofana sometimes lack.

The obvious answer is always in-between these two extremes. The King Power side cannot go toe-to-toe without a fully fit and in-form squad (the absence of Harvey Barnes would be felt), and cannot go fully defensive without conceding a plethora of long-range shots to Kevin de Bruyne.

Therefore, tactical flexibility and composure in possession are probably the best attributes required to both cope with the high press – and play through it – and also provide goal scoring opportunities. Vardy will be integral to creating chances and pulling defenders out of position. Let’s hope we celebrate some more of ‘seniorman’ Iheanacho.
