Foxes of Leicester explains which game the Leicester City supporters can hopefully expect to have Caglar Soyuncu back for.

While it was great, no, incredible to see Daniel Amartey’s almost last-minute winner hit the net against Brighton & Hove Albion, the disbelief was also mind-boggling. That’s not because the Ghanaian is not an OK squad player, he is. However, he is quite a significant downgrade on any of the superior three first choice centre-backs on Filbert Way: Jonny Evans, Wesley Fofana, and of course, Soyuncu.

And, regardless of the opposition being champions-elect Manchester City, Amartey’s lack of quality, confidence in his technique, and poor vision in regards of reading the game let him down fairly evidently. Although the former F.C. Copenhagen man was not the worst performing Fox on the day – take your pick for the absolute worst on our player ratings piece, there are so many to choose from unfortunately – he is decidedly out of his depth depending on the varied upper or lower stature of the particular Premier League opponents.

My point on Amartey, with all due respect, is that the King Power side needs greater back-up. It is necessary, I’m afraid. That is if Leicester want to achieve Champions League football and maintain that status. With Soyuncu almost certainly missing for at least one match, if not two, a three centre-half system is unadvisable for Brendan Rodgers’ Foxes.

Caglar Soyuncu will hopefully return for this Leicester City game

Before the pretty dreadful Man City loss – LCFC didn’t turn up if you ask me, despite City being supreme – Rodgers revealed that Soyuncu remained in Turkey following the international break. After the contest, the Northern Irishman then stated that the Turk has contracted COVID-19.

Below is a quote from the Leicester gaffer on the status of his defender, as well as when the LCFC Live expects the player to make a comeback to action.

"“…hopefully we’ll get him back and playing as soon as we can.“I very much doubt so (he will be available for West Ham United), with the requirements of isolation and everything else. That’s what we’re working out. We need to confirm where we’re at but I would think he is highly unlikely to play in that [WHU] game.”– Brendan Rodgers(‘City will certainly hope to have the centre-back available in a fortnight’s time when they play a historic FA Cup semi-final against Southampton at Wembley’, Via Leicestershire Live)"
