Leicester City have reportedly opened transfer talks with French attacker and World Cup winner Florian Thauvin of Marseille.

News stories claim that a possible free move for Thauvin to the Foxes is in a stage of advancement. Although the talks have begun they have not advanced to the final part of negotiations, as per Sport Witness.

While media suggests Brendan Rodgers’ team may have the Frenchman in their ranks for 2021/22, remaining in France is also said to still be a viable option. Nevertheless, speculation states that a four year contract is ready to be offered to Thauvin.

As a versatile winger who can play across the upper midfield section, the former Newcastle man – who certainly didn’t set the Premier League alight when he played for the Magpies – is definitely an attractive choice to many fans. Along with presumably fitting the bill for Rodgers as a very talented forward-thinking player.

However, everything in this scenario continues to feel unclear; the player himself is quoted as saying he is ‘always in suspense about his future’, which leaves the Blue Army in limbo, too. I would personally welcome the champion to Leicester: it may be in Ligue 1, but his statistical output is exceptional and pedigree obvious.

Big game for Leicester City

At the time of writing, Leicester are preparing to tackle Manchester City at King Power Stadium. In the reverse fixture the Foxes did a demolition job on the Citizens at Etihad Stadium earlier in the season. That game finished 5-2, as Jamie Vardy bagged a hat-trick.

Despite Pep Guardiola’s side being almost certain of an EPL title this campaign, Rodgers‘ men will be quietly confident that they can take points from MCFC once again, especially with home advantage.
