A Leicester City transfer rumour took an unexpected turn on Monday, as the reason Florian Thauvin may not sign for the Foxes emerged.

It is apparent that the Foxes want to capture an attacking midfield talent, Brendan Rodgers confirmed it a couple of months ago. They looked in January but no suitable, reasonably priced targets were available.

One man who fits the bill is Otavio, yet he won’t be joining the King Power side, as he put pen to paper on a new contract with his current club Porto. Thauvin is a winger predominantly, though he can play in a central, forward-thinking role.

According to The Sun, who quote Estadio Deportivo, Leicester are said to have made a £57k-a-week offer to the Frenchman as part of a four-year deal.

However, there is more, as the publication claims the player has “‘prioritised the economic aspect’ and that he will likely sign for the club that offers him the most money.

Other top European sides are chasing Marseille’s star, as talk goes, including Sevilla, Napoli, Tottenham Hotspur, as well as Roma. News also has Leicester as the front runners.
