Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers is constantly linked to EPL rivals, be that Manchester United or Tottenham Hotspur. Here is why he won’t leave!

It seems like it was only a year ago that the Northern Irishman – Brendan Rodgers – joined Leicester City as head coach of the senior squad. At the time, Celtic fans were frothing at the mouth.

They claimed he had joined mid-table mediocrity. That the Foxes were never going to relive their fairy tale, and that Rodgers could have finished a legend at Celtic Park. Well, how has his 100 games in charge of the mid-table club gone? Well, the King Power side are third in the league, and the only team to have beaten every single of the traditional top six clubs.

So then, what interest has there been in his services elsewhere and why would he not wish to leave?

Leicester City’s Jurgen Klopp?

As reported by the Leicester Mercury, Tottenham Hotspur are said to be interested in the services of Brendan Rodgers should Jose Mourinho leave this summer. The interest is palpable, and Tottenham have not been alone.

Before Thomas Tuchel joined Chelsea, Brendan Rodgers was one of the names mentioned. Manchester United supporters have angrily shouted for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to be ousted, and the Foxes boss to be recruited.

Almost every club that has gone through, or is going through, a tough spot has the gaffer on their list. This is not a surprise to anyone who watches Leicester City on a regular basis: a positive possession-based style of play, tactical dynamism, a willingness to see matches through, and the motivational skills to pick the team up during a bad performance.

Any of these clubs can offer him immense salaries, a star-studded squad, and larger transfer budgets. So why would he not even consider leaving?

My first response is that he has become the face of Leicester. This will be a little controversial. Similar to Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool or Pep Guardiola at Manchester City, the gaffer has instilled his personality, style of play, and his reputation into the King Power side.

The attitude of every player, the improvements in younger players, the trust he has in individuals, the players which have been brought in and even those sold, and the successes he has gained here, show that Brendan Rodgers has created ‘his’ team.

The longer Rodgers stays, the more the Foxes become Rodgers’ Blue Army. Why would he leave if he is the face of the club?

Otherwise, the answer is fairly simple and non-controversial. Why would he leave when he has most of the players he wants that are playing a style he wants them to play, and is getting success with them?

The success ‘BR’ is bringing to Leicester City is historic. As reported by EuroSport, in Rodgers’ own words:

"“We’ll fight to create history”– Brendan Rodgers"

Brendan Rodgers is here at Leicester to create history. He is here to have success, to build a reputation, and build ‘his‘ team. If he can do all these things with the Srivaddhanaprabha family providing their backing, then there is no reason for him to go.

With an award-tipped and quickly improving Foxes team, I cannot fathom why anyone would genuinely think Brendan Rodgers would quit Leicester for a nearby rival, or even a rival the King Power side has surpassed.

light. Hot. 3 Foxes who should be sold in the summer

Also, just putting it out there, if neither Mauricio Pochettino or Mourinho could lead Tottenham to glory, then literally no one can. Brendan should avoid that EPL rival at all costs.
