Leicester City are reportedly leading the race to sign an in demand box-to-box midfielder; the Foxes also want a young French prodigy.

Right, let’s get into some more interesting stuff than naive footballers and parties; as promised, Foxes of Leicester are going to resist from mentioning the recent annoying antics from now on.

Today there are more transfer stories emerging, as usual, so we’re going to cover those. Along with offering our thoughts on some existing speculation about prospective signings from earlier in the week/last weekend.

Generally we all know that another striker is required on Filbert Way. In addition, a better right-winger than contemporary options is also a must. Although, I’ve never seen the skillful Marc Albrighton before his incredible cameo versus West Ham United in Sunday’s loss. But he is a back-up, to be honest.

Lastly, Brendan Rodgers admitted in January that the club were targeting a central attacking midfielder, too. That role wasn’t filled in the new year window, yet we can expect a deal to be done during the summer. Will these latest Leicester-connected athletes fit the bill?

Leicester City lead race for in demand midfield man

Firstly in rumours involving Brendan Rodgers’ team, is Boubakary Soumare. He’s a French Under-21 international who currently plays for Lille in Ligue 1. Soumare is a key part of their team; which is impressively three points ahead of usual leaders Paris Saint-Germain.

PSG’s ‘B side’ is where he began his senior career; obviously that leads us to believe that the up-and-coming star has pedigree. According to The Sun, Leicester City lead Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur in the chase for his signature.

Furthermore, the publication claims Rodgers’ outfit could sign the 22-year-old for £30 million as his contract expires after the next campaign. Newcastle’s £35m offer for the box-to-box midfielder, who is often compared to United’s Paul Pogba, was rejected in Jan 2020.

Ismael Doukoure

Apparently the east Midlanders also want another Frenchman: a “prodigy” named Doukoure, a centre-back who is at Ligue 2 side Valenciennes.

However, Sport Witness carries a story suggesting the 17-year-old will leave at the end of the season. Leicester are said to be able to open talks and possibly beat Everton to Doukoure for €6m-8m.
