Leicester linked with signing striker and fans will probably approve
Leicester City are again linked with signing a striker, and he is a transfer target that the Blue Army will probably approve of.
Ivan Toney has scored 30 goals and provided 10 assists for teammates at Brentford in the Championship this season; before that he managed 40 finishes across two campaigns for Peterborough in League One. Those numbers, while in lower divisions than the Foxes’ Premier League status, are astonishing, to be honest.
Obviously we all know that talent and performance doesn’t always work when an athlete is transplanted from lesser competition into the world’s greatest and most competitive league. There aren’t as many James Maddisons as there are failed attempts.
Yet, if any forward can make the leap, it appears Toney is the one who deserves the chance at the big time. And Leicester are connected with an interest in the Englishman once more.
Trustworthy publication The Athletic suggest two significant EPL clubs have identified the player as a viable option to strengthen either of there respective front lines. Everton apparently join the east Midlands side in their pursuit of Toney.
Brendan Rodgers has continued to inform journalists that the Foxes plan to invest in another forward during this summer’s window. It is likely that many of Leicester’s supporters would be pleased if the Bees man was acquired.
Leicester City, Foxes of Leicester absence
If you’ve missed us on Twitter and Facebook over the long bank holiday weekend, it’s because Foxes of Leicester are currently boycotting social media in support with English players, clubs and sports outlets over continued racism as well as discrimination.
Unfortunately abstaining from using the platforms will not stop bigots, alter their opinions or cause the end of the disgusting behaviour exhibited. But, hopefully, it may contribute to forcing social media companies to work with lawmakers to prosecute and ban anyone causing anguish to so many people.
