Leicester City play Chelsea in the FA Cup final on Saturday. Foxes stalwart Jonny Evans had an injury, but hopefully he will be back in contention.

This weekend will see the ever longed-for fifth appearance for Leicester in the FA Cup Final. If you weren’t already aware of the rather downbeat fact that the Foxes were runners-up in 1949, 1961, 1963 and 1969, then voilà. Those three occasions in the ’60s, while losses, underlined the pedigree of the east Midlands side in that era. Hopefully the Blue Army are now going to see a similar golden ticket for trophy matches in this contemporary decade.

However – and this is not easy to admit, but Foxes of Leicester always attempts to convey honesty – overcoming a rejuvenated, reorganised and potent Chelsea team is an extremely difficult task. Thomas Tuchel will be desperate to further prove himself to Roman Abramovich and the Pensioners faithful. Obviously many will agree that the Blues also have a slightly better, as well as deeper, squad than Brendan Rodgers’ roster.

Nevertheless, ‘Foxes Never Quit’, as they say, and FoL expect a closer outcome than some have predicted. One element that would boost the King Power club immeasurably is the return of veteran centre-back Jonny Evans. Rodgers spoke of his defender after the victory over Manchester United:

"“…he’s [Jonny Evans is] still in pain. But he’s very determined to be out there at the weekend for us, so we just have to assess that over the next two or three days. The health of the player is most important.“We’re hopeful. He’s a warrior, Jonny, he’s a tough guy. Sometimes you can have an injury and play with it, but this is one where it’s at the bottom of his foot and he can’t put pressure on his foot.”– Brendan Rodgers, via Leicester Mercury"

light. Hot. The ultimate footballing insult for Cengiz Under

Current lockdown easing measures change again on May 17, with sporting events allowed to once again accept spectators into grounds and facilities. In fact, the two concluding fixtures of the contemporary campaign can welcome visitors. That should give each English top-flight team the chance to play in front of their fans.
