Leicester interested in transfer for Premier League midfielder
By Akash Roy
A club like Leicester City promises to be an excellent first choice for the players who sparkled this season. More so if their club is doomed to relegation.
After Sam Allardyce’s first relegation from the Premier League of his career, West Brom would now be looking to profit a little from their few prized possessions. That’s where our club comes into this picture. Leicester City will be looking to add credible assets to the club’s roster to shock & survive in next season’s European nights.
It should come as no surprise that the influential role of Matheus Pereira could not go unnoticed by the scouts. A bright shining diamond in West Bromwich Albion’s midfield ushered in a lot of highly regarded praise from the fans and pundits alike.
Retrospective on the Leicester City target
Matheus Pereira was by far the most impressive player for West Brom this season. Expectations for the club’s destiny resided on the shared shoulders of Baggies’ new signings of Matheus Pereira and Grady Diangana. While Diangana didn’t have a noteworthy season, Pereira rolled eyeballs with his minutes.
From the beginning, the Brazilian linked up beautifully with striker Callum Robinson. Their unselfish plays looked dazzling. Despite not playing as a striker, Pereira managed to score 10 Premier League goals and registered five assists. Robinson, despite being a striker for the club, only managed to bag five goals this season.
The 25-year-old can command over five different positions as a winger, midfielder on both flanks, and primarily as an attacking midfielder. That makes him a “special” player. His display of talent has proved that he is a team player, with little to no ego. He is among the nominees for the Premier League’s April Player of the Month award.
What’s in for Pereira?
Clubs waited while West Brom’s fate was hanging in the balance, but now as they are confirmed to get relegated, the clubs have shown their interest in the Brazilian. Express Sport can reveal Leicester are at the front of the queue with RB Leipzig also serious about signing the 25-year-old. A player of his caliber doesn’t need to fret about his playing minutes. So one might wonder why he would choose us?
The reasons are simple, the Foxes are Europe bound next season. They have the best state-of-the-art training facility in Europe. A young player like Matheus could intermingle and get accepted into the camaraderie in no time. The King Power club has one of the best recruitment systems, thoughtful ownership, and a loyal fanbase. It is a team of dreamers who aspire to go against the norm of hierarchy.
Signing with any other club gives you a lot of complementary burdens of expectations. A club like us gives you more freedom to get adjusted and play with more individualism. The squad has no ego problems; everyone is more or less on the same level. There are quite a few promising young lads who are hungry to prove themselves, many of who come directly from the academy.
The club is trying to keep things fresh and robust with one of the best-brained managers, Brendan Rodgers, at the wheel. The team has shown improvement that resulted in gradual progress under him. We reside 3rd in the Premiership with a FA Cup final due to our name.
Really, what more can you ask for if you are a footballer?
