If the latest, realistic rumour is true, Leicester City have offered a Premier League left-back a one-year contract. Southampton’s Ryan Bertrand would be a good signing, in Foxes of Leicester’s view.

How many players will leave Leicester, and can we expect a lot of incoming Foxes transfers to transpire? Those two questions are on the collective Blue Army minds – yet they are not the most important posers. Which prominent assets are kept, as well as the exact signings made will most likely impact the next season most significantly.

While the previous statement perhaps sounds obvious or even patronising, the fact is that the outcome of the chase for a top four English top-flight finish will decide Leicester’s fate in advance of the next campaign.

Evidently a Champions League place will help attract and retain the best options; however, relegation to a Europa League spot would diminish the chances of securing preeminent targets. And, concerningly, that outcome might lead to an exodus of the best talent already belonging to the King Power club.

Leicester City edging closer to first summer signing

Regardless of what happens now and until Sunday night, LCFC have been tipped to announce the capture of Lille midfielder, Boubakary Soumare. While the probable purchase of the Frenchman is yet to made public by the east Midlands side, he is expected to join, as per transfer demigod, Fabrizio Romano.

Although, another player said to be close to coming through Leicester’s doors is Southampton’s Ryan Bertrand.

Bertrand may not be starting quality for every EPL and European game in 2021/22, but he would be a great addition to the Foxes squad in general. Possibly as a back-up to the injured James Justin, or understudying for the former Luton Town man whilst he recovers.
