Liverpool Football Club apparently have a wishlist of five defenders that they will choose a couple to sign from. A Leicester City star is included.

To be absolutely frank, I’d bet my house on the fact that Jurgen Klopp and his staff have and are eyeing up more than one outstanding asset with the Foxes. Youri Tielemans, James Maddison and Wilfred Ndidi would be my guesses.

Let’s hope that trio remain on Filbert Way for 2021/22; Champions League qualification would certainly help there! Anyway, on to the latest speculation involving Leicester.

Daily Mirror reports that Fox Caglar Soyuncu is one of five centre-back names on the Reds’ transfer wishlist for the summer. Chief of recruitments at Anfield, Michael Edwards, is said to have been impressed by the Turkey international.

The current English Premier League champions consider the 24-year-old as an option to strengthen a defence that has been inundated with problems this season. Centre-halves have been decimated on their side of Merseyside in 2020/21; with Virgil Van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Joel Matip all suffering lengthy layoffs.

Other players named on the shortlist are Brighton defender Ben White – whose homegrown status is mentioned as a plus point – Marseille’s Duje Caleta-Car, Ibrahima Konate of RB Leipzig and the Reds’ existing loan signing Ozan Kabak. Although a deal has supposedly been agreed for the latter.

In Foxes of Leicester’s view, the Fenway Sports Group club will have to break the bank in order to capture Soyuncu from the King Power team. We’re talking possibly more than the £75 million paid for Van Dijk.

In fact, that amount or point of reference may even be a negotiating area for the Foxes if a bid emerges for the CB. Remember, however much of a draw it is for an athlete to have chance to play for Liverpool, the owners at Leicester won’t be budged by reputation, money, or player power – if they don’t want to sell, they will not.
