The 20/21 Premier League season has ended and the summer is upon us, meaning a lot of transfer news will be circulating in the footballing sphere in the coming times.
This season will be termed as a successful one with the FA Cup trophy resting at King Power Stadium and a European spot secured again. Everything that has happened at Leicester in past two seasons, Youri Tielemans had a major role in driving the team towards that. He has already imprinted his name in the history books of the club with his miraculous 30 yard strike at Wembley. The Belgian was already a fan favourite, now he’s being called a club legend for ending the long wait for that trophy.
The interest in Tielemans from the ‘big clubs’ is no secret; rumours were present well before Brendan Rodger’s side signed him and with the cup glory, some significant sides are being associated with him. As a result, the club obviously known for it’s excellent transfer policy wants the 23-year-old to stay and be a face of the future of the Leicestershire outfit.
For quite a time now there have been rumours of Liverpool and Manchester United eyeing move for the Belgian International as they look to reinforce their respective midfields. However, the Foxes are adamant about keeping their highly rated asset and are now looking to extend his contract at the club.
Popular football journalist, Nicolo Schira has claimed this:
"“Leicester and Youri Tielemans are in advanced talks to extend the contract. Scheduled a meeting with his agent in the few next days.”"
Speculation on social media says the club from the Midlands will offer a new three-year deal, extending the contract until 2024.
The ‘starman’ is currently with the Belgium squad with his Leicester team mates Timothy Castagne and Dennis Praet, getting ready for international tournament Euro2020.
