Leicester: What to know about Philippe Coutinho transfer link
Rumours of Leicester City’s interest in a transfer for Philippe Coutinho have reignited once again. Here is what FoL knows about the talk.
There used to be chuckles at the mention of Leicester wanting targets from outfits such as Barcelona. But no more. For the Foxes to take lesser players from these type of iconic teams and even revitalise their careers is an absolute possibility. Which brings us nicely onto LCFC-linked Philippe Coutinho.
Adding to the chances of the King Power club securing such a globally renowned athlete like Coutinho, is the fact that Brendan Rodgers was the initial manager to bring the Brazilian to England while the Northern Irishman was Liverpool boss.
Over the last 18 months the Foxes have been connected with tracking the playmaker. This time it’s along with Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur. Barca are apparently open to a sale for as relatively little as €20 million this summer,as per Spanish reports carried by Leicestershire Live. This news increases the likelihood of prospective bids from Spurs and Leicester, both of whom are said to be open to a move.
Another new Leicester City transfer rumour
On this occasion the talk is about a potential outgoing move away from Leicester. Rachid Ghezzal is surely leaving this summer: the club obviously does not need or require his services, let’s be honest. To be candid in another fashion, from what I have seen on social media and heard directly from Foxes fans, they don’t want him either. I’m also fed up with writing about his future because it absolutely seems it won’t be on Filbert Way. It has, after all, been two years of this type of coverage.
And now another claim has been made over the increasing amount of clubs wanting to sign the Algeria international. Takvim, a Turkish newspaper, suggests Middle Eastern side Al Nassr are in talks with Ghezzal or his representatives about a switch to play in Saudi Arabia. That is according to a story on the website of Sport Witness.
