Youri Tielemans caused unintentional worry to many Leicester City supporters when he waved goodbye on a solo lap of honour. Was it until 2021/22, or for good?

To non-sports fans it was a seemingly innocuous scenario: footballer slightly emotionally waves to longing faithful following a good season because they will not see their beloved idol all summer. Though to the trained eye us intrusive followers of the Premier League – some would describe it as paranoia – Leicester star Tielemans could well have been bidding farewell to the adoring Foxes.

The incident – I know it sounds a bit much to describe it as such, but the player is a necessity on Filbert Way for continued evolution of the team – arose in the final, disappointing defeat to Tottenham Hotspur on the last day of the EPL campaign. Belgium’s midfielder, playing for Leicester, walked around the field after the final whistle and applauded the support and looked a bit sad. Now Liverpool are said to be after him.

Incidentally, if LCFC had won that match and qualified for the Champions League for the upcoming campaign – would Tielemans have looked more pleased, or felt his immediate future was with the King Power club? I think that is fairly obviously; and you can’t blame the fella – he deserves UCL footy, quite frankly.

Leicester City star addresses lap of honour misunderstanding

Thankfully this solo lap of honour business has been cleared up by the man himself. While this explanation is fair, it doesn’t mean the 24-year-old will definitely remain with the Foxes. But it does appear as though it wasn’t a farewell:
