Leicester: Tielemans talks Liverpool rumour as Juventus join chase
Leicester City star Youri Tielemans has spoken on the Liverpool transfer rumour as Juventus apparently join the chase to sign the Belgian.
While I’m sure many Leicester fans’ fears have been allayed due to the Belgian midfielder explaining the misunderstanding around his solo lap of honour. Tielemans expressed how he wanted to thank the blue Army for their support especially as they were in the King Power Stadium that day. He didn’t know his teammates had gone back to the changing room, and implied that the situation didn’t mean he would leave the Foxes.
The misapprehension that Tielemans might leave after waving farewell following losing to Tottenham Hotspur and failing to qualify for Champions League football caused panic amongst the Leicester fan base. Thankfully those understandable worries have been quelled by the 24-year-old’s recent comments whilst on international duty at Euro2020.
Meanwhile, Liverpool are said to be considering a move for the Foxes’ ‘starman’; one report actually states Tielemans is already in talks with the Reds and his representation. Though that situation seems unlikely and was disputed by other media outlets.
The player was asked about the rumour surrounding Jurgen Klopp’s team in a recent interview, as well:
"“I don’t think about it. I am focusing on the Euros. I don’t listen to transfer rumours.”– Youri Tielemans, via Liverpool Echo"
Along with Manchester United, Italian giants Juventus are now also apparently interested in the former AS Monaco man:
"According to Calciomercato.com, Juve will promise Tielemans a leading role under new coach Massimiliano Allegri and are ready to match his wages at Leicester.Via LCFC Live"
2021/22 fixture list for Leicester City and top six rivals
On Wednesday the 2021/22 Premier fixture list was released to the delight of English top-flight fans and neutrals. Leicester begin their campaign with another clash against fellow Midlands side Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Tottenham and Chelsea face a tough start – whilst playing one another; but champions Manchester City have a much harder beginning than former title holders Liverpool.
