Leicester switch attention from Edouard to Daka
Leicester City are linked with two strikers for the start of next season, as the Foxes now make a bid for goalscorer Patson Daka.
Negotiations between Celtic and Leicester City over anything, even a cup of tea, would have definitely been awkward following the Foxes taking the Hoops’ former manager and current LCFC boss, Brendan Rodgers. That appointment reportedly cost Leicester £9 million – and the Northern Irishman was worth every penny and more!
After that departure, the Foxes wanted to sign Celtic striker Odsonne Edouard; Edouard is a typically prolific attacker for the Hoops: meaning every centre-forward for the Scottish outfit, or Glasgow Rangers, seems to bag between 20-30 goals-per-season in their Premier League. I’m not suggesting the standard is a bit lower – I’m saying there is a stark difference in quality.
Therefore I’m not as disappointed as some fans of the King Power club will be, as there is a chance Edouard may not be a hit on Filbert Way. Though that same logic can unfortunately certainly be applied to the Austrian Bundesliga, as opposed to the ‘main’ five European divisions: England, Spain, Italy, Germany and France. Nevertheless, star forward Patson Daka of Red Bull Salzburg is the fresh potential incoming man up front.
According to the ever-reliable Fabrizio Romano, who features on Sky Sport in Italy, a deal is not imminent with Celtic with regard to their asset; Leicester have subsequently turned attention to Daka. Romano first stated, confusingly, that LCFC will announce new “signings” soon; but had to verify that both hitmen probably won’t be in Rodgers’ squad next season.
The Italian did, however, confirm that the Foxes are “working to complete” the acquisition of the Zambian. In addition, the journalist says the outfit from Austria have received an offer for the 22-year-old from LCFC.
