Leicester transfers: Foxes make agreement to sign goalkeeper
Foxes of Leicester has a Leicester City transfer update to discuss with you now, as the Foxes have apparently made an agreement to sign a goalkeeper.
Kasper Schmeichel won’t be going forever, despite his obvious quality. Then again, by the sound of some fans’ criticism of the goalkeeper’s distribution especially by feet, they seem to consider the Denmark stopper almost obsolete.
Naturally FoL disagrees with that assessment due to the recent FA Cup winner’s clear talent. Yet I do think Brendan Rodgers must ask his goalkeeping staff to work more closely with Schmeichel with regard to his kicking and the targets he aims for, which are often wrong or confused.
Nevertheless, the Foxes will aim to secure a replacement for further down the line, and they have apparently made a deal with a possible future No.1.
Football Insider‘s sources suggest Leicester have also beaten Chelsea in their pursuit. Hartlepool goalkeeper Brad Young is said to have agreed terms with LCFC. The transfer for the 19-year-old is now being finalised, the report says.
Leicester City in the Europa League
In 2021/22 the Foxes will compete in European competition for the sixth occasion in their history. Leicester have now qualified for consecutive tournaments for the first time ever. Although the east Midlands side missed out on Champions League entry, the aforementioned achievement is a great feat for a club the size of LCFC.
This weekend lcfc.com released some details about changes to the UEL which will affect the team. Firstly, the number of entrants involved has been reduced from 48 to 32; there are eight groups including four outfits. Group winners obviously progress to the Round of 16.
Additionally, there is now an extra set of knockout fixtures for runners-up to compete with the third placed clubs for a place in the 16. Brendan Rodgers and his players will discover their opponents on 27 August.
