How Leicester City’s preseason schedule is shaping up for the 2021/22 campaign, with players set to return for fitness training on July 12.

2020/21 was a successful season for Leicester. That is an indisputable fact, despite the second successive Champions League failure. Although, it wasn’t ‘bottled’ quite as badly as in 2019/20: that time players seems to cope badly with the pressure.

Whereas, sadly, on this occasion the ill-advised party Ayoze Perez held which was attended by James Maddison was very much part of the blame. If that gathering was not thrown, surely the squad would have focused on UCL entry and gained an extra point or two for qualification. Nevertheless, ‘we go again’ again, as the athletes curiously like to say every week without emotion.

With regard to the preseason schedule, the Foxes roster is set to return on Monday, July 12 for their initial training sessions. Incidentally, the optimistic King Power side will be hopeful that their prospective three new signings – Ryan Bertrand, Boubakary Soumare, along with new Fox Patson Daka – will be able to begin training then as well as the existing squad, too.

Though Daka has been announced, he is still in Austria and will have to isolate for between 5-10 days upon arrival from mainland Europe.

Leicester City friendlies

The away friendlies already arranged for the east Midlands team are as follows: Burton Albion on July 24; Wycombe Wanderers on July 28; and finally Queens Park Rangers on July 31. This information is taken from lcfc.com.

There are, though, always another couple of extra fixtures added before the term begins. That sequence usually culminates with one home clash at King Power Stadium with a higher quality of opponent than the earlier practice matches. Real Madrid were even one of the teams to travel to KPS prior to the season proper years ago.

I expect a fairly decent European side to be welcomed to Leicestershire as the Foxes are now a staple of European competition.
