Leicester City’s previously injured star Harvey Barnes, who was great in 2020/21, should be fit for the Foxes’ pre-season.

Foxes of Leicester believes Harvey Barnes can become Leicester’s most important attacking player next year, providing he’s fit, ready and well prepared physically for 2021/22. During part of the previous campaign, when fit, the Foxes academy graduate produced many excellent displays and had a statistical output to support his rise.

Wingers who spontaneously make good and exciting things happen have been in a minority on Filbert Way ever since Riyad Mahrez departed the King Power club. Barnes was able to replicate some of what the Algerian showcased for LCFC – and the fans love the Englishman for it.

In fact, Barnes had a serious claim to be included in Gareth Southgate’s England plans at the time and possibly the Three Lions Euro2020 squad. That issue eventually required surgery, from which the wingman recovered fine; there was an apparent chance of him returning for the latter stage Premier League run-in but that scenario wasn’t to be.

As the wideman was possibly expected to make a comeback for the final games, he must surely almost be fully fit, or had at least started participating in full training to give a glimmer of hope to Brendan Rodgers over potential selection.

Now Leicester fans can be petty certain the 23-year-old will be available as pre-season gets underway, because Barnes is already involved in practice matches with teammates such as Luke Thomas.
