Leicester: Youri Tielemans to Liverpool transfer saga appears to be over
It appears as though Youri Tielemans will remain a Fox for at least the start of the 2021/22 season, as Liverpool’s efforts to sign him seem to have faded.
At the moment, until Tielemans potentially signs a new contract, the assertion that he’ll stay is still just that. Though signs that the world-class midfielder will remain on Filbert Way are increasingly positive.
First of all, Tielemans and Belgium did not set Europe alight with dazzling displays at Euro2020. Although it may feel like a poisoned chalice to celebrate a player on your team’s mildly unsuccessful European competition as the No.1 ranked side. Nevertheless, we as the Blue Army definitely do not want even more huge clubs banging on the King Power door to recruit the already widely admired 24-year-old.
Regardless of a sometimes under the radar tournament with the Red Devils of mainland Europe, Tielemans’ quality is known. Therefore it was no surprise to learn of Liverpool tracking him all summer. This fact has been referred to by revered journalists such as Fabrizio Romano. And, obviously, any athlete would be sincerely flattered by the interest of the Merseysiders.
Leicester City star likely to stay with Foxes
On Wednesday, Midlands specialist reporter John Percy claimed the east Midlanders are confident of retaining their asset. Tielemans is apparently due for contract talks at LCFC toward the end of this month when he returns from his post-Euros holiday.
Furthermore, Percy suggests that the midfield maestro is not a target for the Reds in this transfer window; Tielemans is supposedly on their general wishlist according to most who are in the know. The writer states that the reason Jurgen Klopp’s outfit will not presently pursue the player is due to the high price the Foxes would command for him.
