Leicester: When defender Jonny Evans will be fit again after injury
Leicester City have a defensive dilemma at present, following Wesley Fofana’s leg fracture. But when will defender Jonny Evans be fit again after his injury?
What an absolute disaster, eh?! Just when important elements of a squad were seemingly starting to come together for the Foxes, the incredible and vital Wesley Fofana sustains a broken ankle/leg in the final friendly before a crucial season gets underway.
Unfortunately for the King Power team, they failed to provide cover defensively for Evans and Fofana. Along with not signing a proper right-winger! Prudence, in hindsight, was not employed. Now LCFC are potentially in trouble if the Brendan Rodgers-labelled ‘not ready for Premier League’ Filip Benkovic is to start EPL games. Nor will Championship-level Daniel Amartey suffice at the back, in my opinion.
So, with the Frenchman facing the sideline until winter, when is Evans likely to return?:
"“It’s still that plantar fascia,” Brendan Rodgers said on Evans. “He’s improving but at the moment, we’re looking at maybe after the international break.”Via Leicestershire Live"
Therefore the Leicester staff are merely hoping Evans will make his comeback for the September 11 match versus Manchester City in the English top-flight.
Leicester City in the transfer market
Now to rectify the main issue facing the Foxes at the moment: a senior centre-back deficiency. Naturally the east Midlands outfit desperately needs a specialist right-wingman; though that objective has now been brushed aside, according to reports and reading into what Rodgers recently said on the video.
In fact, the Foxes boss was fairly conclusive with regard to answering those type of questions subsequent to Fofana’s significant problem. Basically the Northern Irishman seemed to confirm that his recruitment chief will delve into the market for a new centre-half; obvious Rodgers did not specify who that will be, yet he did state it will be looked into. Leicester still have a list of possible CBs to sign.
