Foxes of Leicester explains why these Leicestershire buses are named after Leicester City players. A nice nod to a great team.

Thanks to another wonderful Foxes campaign in 2020/21 – I know the Champions League miss was agonising, again, but it was still a great season to be a fan of the King Power side – which included winning the FA Cup for the first time, the LCFC squad has been given a rather novelty bit of prestige by Leicester Council.

Residents of the city were asked for their suggestions in naming a new fleet of zero-emissions buses, with obvious results emerging. Give yourselves a pat on the back, people of Leicester!

On the above tweet you can see a new bus which now goes by the name of Tielemans, after goalscoring hero, Youri. According to Leicestershire Live, four substitutes from the Wembley triumph will also have electric buses in the Autumn: Marc Albrighton, James Maddison, Hamza Choudhury and Wes Morgan.

Other players to get one of the 10 remaining vehicles with their team number attached at present are as follows: 1 Kasper Schmeichel, 3 Wesley Fofana, 4 Caglar Soyuncu, 6 Jonny Evans, 8 Youri Tielemans, 9 Jamie Vardy, 14 Kelechi Iheanacho, 17 Ayoze Perez, 25 Wilfred Ndidi, 27 Timothy Castagne, 33 Luke Thomas.

Four days until Leicester City’s Premier League campaign begins

Wolverhampton Wanderers are welcomed to King Power Stadium on Saturday, August 14 for the first Foxes Premier League match of 2021/22. Bruno Lage is the new man at the helm for Wolves, rendering the Midlands team an unknown quantity for this upcoming game – and their season at large.

With no centre-back signed yet but reports of Jannik Vestergaard talks – that is in spite of a much needed right-winger also not materialising – Daniel Amartey may be deputising in the LCFC defence once more.

While Amartey is committed, has all the physical attributes and played well against Manchester City – he is a distinct weakness and his involvement from the beginning of EPL contests will inevitably come back to bite the Foxes. Hopefully my prediction is incorrect, yet it is a worry.
