If mounting reports are to be believed, Leicester City are on the precipice of securing a new signing. And that fresh incoming player will be Jannik Vestergaard.

The absence of Jonny Evans and Wesley Fofana is bound to be felt on the pitch for the Foxes. An unbalance after such a double loss is unavoidable.

This is especially significant when you consider that the pair combine to become a modern partnership of the centre-back defence: front foot and back foot centre-halves. One, Evans, is more measured and sits back analysing play and when to intervene; whereas the other, Fofana, is a combative and instant agent of the aggressive defensive side of the game. In other words, he attacks attackers. Caglar Soyuncu’s qualities are similar to the Frenchman’s.

And it appears as though Leicester have lined up a replaced for the injured Northern Irishman, with Southampton’s Jannik Vestergaard reportedly an imminent arrival. Vestergaard is a mountain of a man so aerially he is impressive; meanwhile his talent on the ball can often be cited as better than his tackling or reading of forward moves.

TalkSPORT suggest the Dane is in talks with LCFC. In addition to claiming those discussions are “positive”; although a £13million bid was apparently rejected, with the Saints holding out for £15m plus add-ons.
