Leicester City are still attempting to secure a new winger during this transfer window, despite having to already alter their plans.

It seemed to be the assumption among many of the support whose social media activity I am privy to, that the Foxes are not going to even try to capture a fresh wingman this summer anymore.

Well, I thought that a bit of a peculiar theory, assertion or assessment – whether from a viable source or not, to be completely frank – as filling the right attacking side remains an absolute necessity on Filbert Way. So Foxes of Leicester did a little digging – and we did not have to search for too long.

With the abundance and inundating of pre-match build-up and legitimate information which must be processed prior to any Leicester or top-flight game, sometime certain facts, statements and particulars of great significant are lost in the press mire. Thankfully this next revelation wasn’t!

What Brendan Rodgers said about a new winger for this transfer window

First of all, if you were not aware, a left-footed right-winger is needed at King Power Stadium; there are many options: even a youthful, player unproven in the Premier League on loan would suffice. Even if merely to tide Rodgers’ team over until a permanent, appropriate arrival can materialise.

Due to Jannik Vestergaard coming in, there are obviously less funds for wages and acquisitions. Nevertheless, the Northern Irishman at the LCFC helm stated that his recruitment staff are still hard at work:

"But City have plans to sign more players, including a winger…“Ideally we would,” Rodgers said when asked if he would want more players once Vestergaard is confirmed.“We would like to add more if we could and we will see how the market goes. We know what we would like, but whether we can get that type of player or whether we can afford that type of player, we will have to wait.”– Brendan RodgersLeicestershire Live"
