Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers explains how the Foxes’ other in-form striker, Kelechi Iheanacho, will be deployed going forward.

Rodgers has attempted to crowbar Iheanacho into a wide role, as a kind of No.10 a year or so ago – I’m not sure you’ll remember, but the Nigerian actually provided some decent assists and linkup work during that brief incarnation – and in his natural position as a centre-forward.

Sorry for the old school referencing, but the reason for such a description will become clear in a moment. You see, after the many attempts to find the former Manchester City man a place in the Leicester starting eleven whilst Jamie Vardy remains a solo forward, Rodgers has now decided where best suits Iheanacho.

Basically the gaffer sees the Nigeria international as a striker and nothing else; to be fair to Rodgers, he’s arrived at the correct conclusion. And contradicting the boss’s perceived stubbornness is the fact that he’s already tried a 3-5-2 variation and a 4-4-2 to incorporate Iheanacho into a system.

"4-4-2 because of Iheanacho?“He [Iheanacho] can’t play in another position. He’s purely a striker. When you play with two strikers, there’s a change behind that. That’s some of the things I need to look at. It doesn’t allow us to keep the ball as well as we would look at.”– Brendan RodgersVia Leicester Mercury"

Youri Tielemans talks poor Leicester City start and how to resurrect form

‘Starman’ Tielemans is arguably the most integral part of the Leicester team presently; he decided not to allay the Blue Army’s fears that he’ll soon be transferred away or shall demand a move when refusing to confirm or deny whether he’ll imminently sign a new contract at King Power Stadium.

This is not a criticism of the Belgium midfielder, not at all, any athlete is entitled to switch allegiances. Us Foxes just want him to commit and remain in Leicestershire due to his unique qualities.
