Leicester City FC: A Complete Football Manager 2022 Guide
By Nathan Wong
As we approach November, this means the upcoming release of a new Football Manager game, scheduled for November 9th. This provides Leicester City fans with the chance to take the mantle of Brendan Rodgers and achieve glory with the Foxes. For those who can’t wait, the Beta version has already been released, available for those who purchase the game from a respected store.
FOL will attempt to provide the key points regarding Leicester City from the Beta to inform enthusiasts about what they will be dealing with.
What does Leicester City start with?
Leicester City have a modest starting budget of £10m as well as a £50k free wage budget, which isn’t bad considering what the Foxes have already spent. However, to successfully strengthen the side, it’s likely you will have to sell players or bring in creatively (the notorious instalments feature). In comparison to other clubs, this is more than clubs like Barcelona but pales in insignificance when compared to Newcastle United’s £200m transfer kitty.
There are key positions that will probably need filling if you are to mount a serious attempt on the top four again. The main ones are right-wing, with quality depth at left-back, centre back and goalkeeper other positions for consideration.
Key Players
Youri Tielemans:
No surprises that the Starman is Leicester’s key midfield man, alongside Wilfried Ndidi. Youri Tielemans starts with a 4-star overall rating for the team, with 18 passing and vision sufficient to pull the strings in midfield. Otherwise, Youri has an excellent all-round range of ratings, with perhaps only his heading prowess and pace leaving a bit to be desired.
Jamie Vardy:
Even at 34 years of age, Jamie Vardy remains Leicester City’s best striker on FM22 although users may want to be aware his attributes are likely to decline at a rapid rate due to his age. Even if FM discriminates harshly against older places, Vardy still boasts 17 acceleration, 16 pace as well as a lethal 17 finishing.
Wesley Fofana:
In the parallel universe of Football Manager, Leicester City fans can utilise ‘Little Wes’ without having to wait until the new year. At the start of the game, Fofana is injured with the injury he sustained last season as opposed to the horrific broken leg. Therefore, look forward to combining Caglar Söyüncü and Fofana to form a formidable partnership. As a player of FM myself, I can also assure you that FM’s version of Söyüncü is much less prone to moments of madness than the real-life one.
