Leicester v Arsenal: expected Foxes line-up for crucial clash
Leicester City host Arsenal at the King Power in their next fixture in the Premier League on 30/10/21. This is the expected XI and injury update.
Brendan Rodgers’ King Power side look to continue their current winning form in the attack and to rectify their defensive woes in a crucial match against Arsenal. The Gunners and Foxes are close in the league, three points would be impactful for either side in the table.
Leicester beat Brighton & Hove Albion in the EFL Cup with a second team plus a couple ‘first teamers’, where their last league match was the 1-2 win against Brentford. This means we have won our last four matches in all competitions.
By comparison, the North London side have won two and drawn two in their last four, as well as not losing for eight matches.
Leicester City injury update
There are very few updates to be given. Foxes’ supporters will be happy to hear Jamie Vardy is expected to be fine for the match. He had a minor knee issue which saw him hobble off against Brentford.
Beyond this, Marc Albrighton, Wesley Fofana, James Justin, and Wilfred Ndidi remain out, though Justin is back in first team training. This means we have the same team available as we did against Brentford.
Expected XI
The gaffer will stick with the winning 3-4-1-2 formation with Ademola Lookman and Harvey Barnes on the bench to switch the formation to either a 4-3-3 or 3-4-3 later in the match if required.
Kasper Schmeichel will almost certainly start in goal, with a backline of Caglar Soyuncu, Jonny Evans, and Daniel Amartey. The Ghanaian defender has proven himself a hard worker, though less technically gifted than his peers.
The midfield will be composed of five players. Youri Tielemans and Boubakary Soumare will start as the progressive core, with James Maddison returning ahead of them. In the wide areas, Timothy Castagne and Ricardo Pereira will start – if Ricardo is deemed fit – as they offer the best balance.
Upfront, Kelechi Iheanacho and Jamie Vardy should start, though Patson Daka could be utilised either alongside or instead of Vardy should his fitness be of concern. This will likely become a three later in the match with Barnes or Lookman coming on.
