Manchester United are said to want to sign Leicester City stars Caglar Soyuncu and Youri Tielemans. But will Brendan Rodgers consider joining them? Foxes of Leicester offer our view in this opinion piece.

Rodgers has done a very good job overall at Leicester; I believe had it not been for the injuries and covid-19 nightmare, the Foxes would have qualified for the Champions League for consecutive terms.

Adding the FA Cup triumph and lesser valued Community Shield victory, the Northen Irishman is already one of the most successful and decorated bosses of all-time at the east Midlands outfit.

Yes, appropriate results have been more difficult to obtain this season, but the progression of LCFC is fairly plain to see. I think Rodgers complements the also excellent off-field capability of the well-run King Power club.

Unfortunately the UCL was not in the fate of Leicester over the previous two years, yet the standard produced by the team and its peripheral players was easily sufficient enough to compete in the most prestigious competition in domestic football. Sadly it will be even more challenging to achieve that feat this campaign.

Will Brendan Rodgers leave Leicester City?

You can probably tell that I remain ‘RodgersIn’ despite some very questionable choices by the boss, and in spite of his stubbornness and delusion with regard to strategy such as the disastrous zonal marking. Nevertheless, with the managers Leicester have had over the years, the Blue Army are technically lucky to have ‘BR’.

Will the 48-year-old actually depart in January? No, I wouldn’t have thought that is a viable reality: the LCFC hierarchy would surely attempt to block that hypothetical move. Unless the recently revealed contract clause makes it untenable. Invariably, the chance to manage MUFC is a dream for most head coaches.

If Man United sack Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, they may want a replacement before the end of the season. Though the summer seems far more practical for this level of appointment. According to Eurosport, Rodgers wants to see out 2021/22 before contemplating the Red Devils role. Other reports claim the former Liverpool gaffer is now top of the wishlist at Old Trafford.
