Leicester City continue hunting for players to bolster their U23 squad and challenge senior players. Here is what you need to know about Keane Lewis-Potter.

The King Power side are renowned for finding diamonds in the rough from all across Europe to bring into their stylistically characteristic Foxes side. From Jamie Vardy to Harry Maguire, these players develop into some of the best in the league.

Hull City are one of those sides currently in the rough. The Tigers sit low in 22nd place in the Championship, three points behind their nearest team. Nevertheless, the Black and Yellow academy does produce some great talents.

One of those is Foxes’ target Keane Lewis-Potter. The 20-year-old Englishman has been one of the only stars in the team this year, along with former Fox Callum Elder.

Why Leicester City want Lewis-Potter

Lewis-Potter primarily performs on the left-wing, a position the East Midland’s U23’s are lacking in true depth despite having great players who can do the job in that position. Similar to the signing of Bayli Spencer-Adams, taking young stars from potential senior team call-ups provides us with plenty of depth.

According to FB Ref, the English winger has accumulated a total of 0.65 shots on target per 90 minutes from 2.47 shots per 90, starting and finishing every one of Hull City’s 17 played matches in the league.

Those statistics are not ground-breaking, but they are certainly the best in the team and is being held back by a lack of overall creativity and progressiveness in the Tiger’s side. In previous seasons, the player got a higher shot on target percentage, likely due to better creativity from the side.

At only 20, Lewis-Potter has plenty of development to do and could vastly improve the U23 side before getting involved with the senior side should he boost those numbers a little bit more while with a generally more creative side.

The player has also accumulated three goals and three assists, which shows that he can make an impact on a side struggling to perform well. A move for this player makes sense for the business model the King Power side adopts: buy young and sell high.

Will Brendan Rodgers’ side bid?

Probably not now. Leicester City may be pretty good at identifying talents, but they have shown themselves to be cautious, and when they have been too aggressive, they have signed when a player is nowhere near ready.

A case in point is Bartosz Kapustka, who was brought into the Midlands before he was ready to make the step up, picked up a long term injury, then was forgotten about before being sold. The Polish winger was impressive and similar in style to Lewis-Potter.

January is not when the Foxes would bid for the youngster, especially should Rodgers be on the way out. They will wait out this season to see if the Englishman can keep that for high and whether other Premier League teams will bump up the transfer value with bids.
