Reports claim that Leicester City might attempt to hijack a deal for clinical Premier League attacker Hwang Hee-chan, currently on loan at Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Before we begin, this latest Leicester transfer link is a rumour at this stage. That situation is prevalent with most early connections we hear in the media without a manager’s or player’s endorsement, which is extremely rare.

When many national and international reporters are making essentially the same claim, all being on the same page, then we know fairly well there is something in it. However, the phrase ‘there is no smoke without fire‘ is certainly not always applicable with regard to inter-football club dealings.

Now that the there’s an upcoming Premier League transfer window chat is out of the way, let us discuss new Leicester speculation. First of all, I could be perceived as biased on this one as a Foxes supporter and fan of Hwang Hee-chan. Yet I always hold the aim of maintaining neutrality when appraising footballers who might join LCFC because it is obviously in the club’s interest to get it right.

The calm, composed and already clinical forward who is playing predominantly on the left-wing but is considered a centre-forward or striker, has managed four goals in 10 appearances for Wolves while playing in the English top-flight.

Recently Football Insider sources suggested Leicester are plotting a January move for the RB Leipzig asset:

"The Midlands outfit [Wolves] are cash-strapped and need to sell one of their prize assets to raise the funds to convert the forward’s loan from RB Leipzig into a permanent deal.A Leicester source has told Football Insider that Hwang has caught the eye of their talent spotters and they are monitoring his situation going into the winter window.Wolves have the option to buy Hwang, 25, for around £13million next summer as part of the deal that took to Molineux in late August. But that would not stop Leipzig accepting a bid beyond that mark in the mid-season window. Leicester and the forward’s other suitors could persuade Leipzig to sell if they offer around the £18m mark."

Would Hwang Hee-chan be a good addition at Leicester City?

In Foxes of Leicester’s view, the 25-year-old’s versatility means he would be a great signing for the east Midlands outfit. And even with a plethora of options in the area, such as: Jamie Vardy, Kelechi Iheanacho, Patson Daka, Harvey Barnes, Ayoze Perez and Ademola Lookman.

Although Daka is considered the long-term heir to Jamie Vardy’s monopoly on the striker role, Hee-chan can play backup, partner or side assistance in that eventual scenario. Though Liverpool and Manchester City are also keen, apparently.

And what about Iheanacho, you ask?! Well, as he is good enough to be starting for an EPL side, he may depart from Filbert Way at some point for more opportunities. A recent cross from the Nigerian international seemingly angered manager Brendan Rodgers and the former Man City man hasn’t subsequently featured much since. I rate Iheanacho but it would be a tough choice over he and the South Korean for myself: the latter is more assured, yet defenders find the Fox unpredictable.
