Leicester City are said to be plotting a transfer move for January, involving an international with a player swap possibility. Though offering lesser assets won’t facilitate a deal.

Uruguayan midfielder Matias Vecino is a man in demand according to reports. Leicester’s Premier League rivals Everton are apparently interested as well, along with clubs such as Real Betis, Roma and Lazio.

Brendan Rodgers, manager of the Foxes, suggested recently that his outfit are in the market in January, or rather ambiguously, that the King Power side “will be looking“. Though he added ‘maximising’ what the team always has is key.

Yet the boss did mention a lack of centre-halves at present, so maybe there is something in that. Essentially a midfield man is not needed at the moment; Dennis Praet would be an ideal recall if one was necessary in the role.

However, offloading clearly unwanted LCFC talent like Papy Mendy or Filip Benkovic is probably not a possibility in the case of Inter Milan’s Vecino:

"Inter are looking ‘for the possibility of an exchange with players who are in the same situation’. (Sport Witness)Leicester could offer Filip Benkovic or Papy Mendy to Inter in that case, although both of those moves seem highly unlikely. (Leicester Mercury)"

Following a heroic, battling victory versus Liverpool, the east Midlands outfit were due to meet lowly Norwich City in the Premier League. Norwich are again the whipping team of the English top-flight this campaign, sadly for the Norfolk side. Their fans deserve better and their business/football model needs amending.

It turns out the clash was postponed at the most opportune time for the Foxes. Although complacency or becoming rusty are elements Brendan Rodgers can not allow to creep into a LCFC squad decimated by recurring and new injuries. Along with covid and illness proving difficult to overcome, therefore a break is suitable.

Attack remains Leicester’s best form of defence at present – but Kelechi Iheanacho will now be unavailable because he is at the African Cup of Nations. Meanwhile Jamie Vardy and Patson Daka both remain sidelined.
