Rodgers pushing for two Scottish Premiership signings
According to two reports, Brendan Rodgers is pushing for two Scottish Premiership signings during the January transfer window.
The winter transfer season is upon us, with the Foxes requiring reinforcements and being linked with plenty of potential options. Therefore Foxes of Leicester will bring you all the latest rumours and news, along with supplying our verdict on players and feasibility of capturing them.
Certain clubs with designs on Champions League or Europa League qualification can splash the cash and have massive global revenue streams to replenish their funds. Whereas Leicester only have relatively limited spending capacity comparatively to the big six Premier League teams, in particular.
There are areas that can produce hidden gems as opposed to the already established top four European divisions: the Scottish Premiership, for example. And the King Power side are currently connected with interests in two of their assets: Joe Aribo, as well as Calvin Ramsay.
Leicester City look to Scotland
Aribo is a 25 year old, versatile Rangers midfielder with an eye for goal. Meanwhile Ramsay is age-18 and a defender at Aberdeen. Of course the former would be expected to come into the LCFC first team squad, while Ramsay is seen as one for the future.
Acquiring targets from north of the border has been wonderfully fruitful for English top-flight outfits in recent times. The incredibly talented Kieran Tierney at Arsenal, the amazing Andy Robertson with Liverpool and Aston Villa’s underrated John McGinn, to name three quality exports.
Whilst the aforementioned trio are all of Scottish heritage, as is right back Ramsay, Aribo is a Nigeria international. And Leicester City fans will be well aware of the great success Nigerians like Wilfred Ndidi and Kelechi Iheanacho have had on Filbert Way.
Signing the “elite” teenager would be something of a coup for the east Midlanders, as he is apparently desired by large names, Manchester United and Liverpool for instance. However, I do not see adding midfielders as necessary for Leicester presently, with many Foxes already vying for the Gers man’s role. Besides, Villa boss Steven Gerrard, who managed the Camberwell, London-born athlete in Scotland, will have advantage for any prospective deal. Yet further reports suggest Aribo prefers to stay put.
