Leicester City have been credited by media with an interest in three rated national team players currently playing in Europe.

Unfruitful hope usually begins for Foxes supporters as the January transfer window opens. Basically the side always seems to require additions to certain areas on the pitch which never materialise.

I know us Leicester fans have to be grateful for what we get – and the ownership are marvellous in every department – yet the faithful cannot detach from the obvious fact that the team currently has no fit central defenders. Nor does manager Brendan Rodgers have any out-and-out strikers to call upon.

Maybe the annual wish for high calibre incoming talent will be granted this season, as the Foxes are linked with a plethora of options this time around. And Rodgers hinted at possible deals being made, as ambiguously as always, whilst also mentioning centre-backs.

Below are some quotes about three promising as well as feasible potential signings that LCFC could consider:

"‘Greek Superleague journalist Kostas Lianos is creding City with a move for Aguibou Camara, who Olympiacos want around £17 million for.’“City have been given the green light to seal a free transfer for Denis Zakaria; Borussia Monchengladbach confirmed the Switzerland international will depart the club at the end of his contract in the summer.” (Leicester Mercury)‘According to journalist Santi Aouna of Foot Mercato, Leicester are “very interested”… Aouna tweeted: “Leicester is very interested in Charles De Ketelaere from Club Brugge KV.’"

Leicester City’s initial fixture of the new year

Following the cancellation of the Norwich City contest in the Premier League from the New Year’s Day schedule, the Foxes won’t have played a match for 11 days. That is if the FA Cup defence gets underway versus Watford on Saturday, January 8. Every game is at risk of being postponed at present due to the covid pandemic, even at elite level.

We all know that the east Midlands club’s former manager Claudio Ranieri is at the Hornets’ helm, for just how long that post will last is anyone’s guess. Nevertheless the Blue Army still hold affection for the title-winning boss, though that hopefully won’t derail the push for a result at King Power Stadium.
