The Englishman will bring much needed quality and leadership to a relegation-threatened Newcastle squad. With Atletico losing their starting right back, they need to dip into the market to find a replacement; this is where Leicester City come into play. According to CBS, ‘Atleti are keeping close taps on Leicester’s Ricardo Pereira’.

It isn’t a surprise to see Ricardo’s name linked with one of the giants of European football – his form before a cruel ACL injury in 2020 was breath-taking, as was his start to the 2021/22 campaign. It is, however, a surprise to see his name linked with the club at this moment in time.

Liverpool’s Tyler Morton performed a horrific tackle upon the Portuguese international during the Caraboa Cup quarter-final clash between Leicester and Liverpool, causing Ricardo to break his leg and face months out on the sidelines – just the latest of a series of cruel injury setbacks for the fan-favourite. Because of this, I can’t see anyone signing Ricardo in January. Afterall, why would you spend over £15m on a signing who can’t play until the Spring.

Ricardo, also, hasn’t enjoyed the greatest of seasons with the club. He has made 12 appearances in all competitions and, aside from the opening two fixtures of the season – in which he provided 2 brilliant assists in 2 games – has hasn’t impressed or met his usual high standards.
