Brendan Rodgers’ questionable choices

The gaffer has recently received a lot of criticism for his tactics. But it has to be said that even in today’s clash he made some questionable changes. The hosts after being ahead 1-0 in the match didn’t capitalize on their lead and sat back for most of the match trying to defend this advantage.

Moreover, the manager further made some defensive changes which invited attacks after attacks by Graham Potter’s side. After the changes James Justin was used in a back three and Marc Albrighton was utilized as a Right Wingback. Boubakary Soumare was also introduced in the midfield to solidify the defence but Kasper Schmeichel ended up conceding a goal to Danny Welbeck.

Although, the question has to be asked that was it sensible to sit for almost forty five minutes to defend a slender lead. Perhaps it would have been better to play the normal, aggressive way so that the east Midlands club could have gotten the second goal to kill the game off. Several fans are getting agitated again and again over the defensive mindset of the former Celtic manager. If Rodgers does not address these issues, supporters do turn on bosses; when this scenario happened previously on Filbert Way. Khun Top relieved Claude Puel of duty over a “toxic atmosphere”.
