Leicester 1-1 Brighton: 3 Things you may have missed
James Justin’s progress
Justin finally made a ninety minute appearance since his injury last February, ironically this game against the very same opponents. The fullback was terrific attacking-wise, and made some good runs in the opposition box. However, he was responsible for marking on the header which eventually beat the Foxes skipper. This is an area where the versatile man can improve with regards to anticipation, technique and pugnaciousness.
Nevertheless, it was a decent outing for the former Luton Town player, who was surely refreshing when going forward. Defenders are generally powerless to deal with Justin and he can become a real weapon for Rodgers. Not to mention that the 23-year-old’s link up passing with Ademola Lookman and Youri Tielemans was immaculate at times and surely he would improve the side as he gets more minutes on the pitch.
England boss Gareth Southgate admitted that he was close to calling up Justin before he was sidelined. With a World Cup around the corner, this is the optimum time for the Fox to showcase his incredible talents. Bearing in mind that Rodgers has fairly wisely revealed that Justin’s ‘minutes will be closely managed and monitored’ during this remerging period for the defender.
