Rodgers explains his tactical error which cost Leicester points
Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers has attempted to justify the tactical error he made which lost the Foxes points vs Brighton & Hove Albion.
Oh Brendan, why is it happening again? Rodgers as a technician seems to swing form the particularly skilled to the rather inept on a regular basis.
Defeating Pep Guardiola, Jurgen Klopp along with Thomas Tuchel in a battle of tactics and claiming crucial victories has been achieved. Yet losing leads in relatively simple outings has become another fixture of the modern Leicester side.
I mean, Graham Potter wasn’t even at the match on Sunday and he still managed to outmanoeuvre the Northern Irishman. I’m partially joking there, but you will surely get the point of severe fluctuation when consistency is vital.
Following the disheartening draw with Brighton during the past weekend, Rodgers explained why he changed formation.
Some Foxes fans felt as though the gaffer was attempting to ‘park the bus’ at a very early stage of the game, so to speak. Or being too reactive to his opposite number:
"Formation change?“We spoke before about the game, it’s always one where Graham and I like to change tactics within games, so when they went to 3-4-3, we went to back three to counter that, it blocked up the side a little bit, but we couldn’t keep the ball, but we have to conserve the ball better than we did. That was the thinking.”– Brendan Rodgers, Leicester Mercury"
Leicester City’s injured young star is the subject of transfer interest
Despite being sidelined for the entirety of the 2021/22 campaign, Foxes defender Wesley Fofana remains a wanted man. Such was the impact of the former Saint-Etienne athlete that superclubs were touted as potential future destinations. They included Manchester United and Barcelona.
Now a link between Fofana and Real Madrid has reemerged. It is stated in the story that los Blancos are searching for blossoming players in the age group between 15-21. The Fox only just makes the cut if that element of the article is to be believed.
However, a statement is also made that ‘no definite connection between club and person exists to their knowledge’. You can read more on the speculation here, at Sport Witness.
