Leicester City ‘Starman’ Youri Tielemans has been critical to the side’s form over multiple seasons. Now, receiving a high fee for the player is crucial.

It is no surprise that Foxes supporters are anguished over the potential departure of one of our best players – Tielemans. From his loan spell with the King Power side, to his highly successful permanent transfer, such a player is worth their weight in wages.

Let us delve into what the Belgian midfielder has contributed to here in the East Midlands, and why Leicester must consider a sale of the player in the upcoming window, regardless of whether we want to or not.

Leicester City’s star

The Belgian international joined the Foxes during the 18/19 season on loan, then made that move permanent in a deal worth just over £40m to the club in the following season.

Big money and big expectations, the ‘Starman’ would hardly miss a game under Brendan Rodgers. The Northern Irishman views Tielemans as critical to the way his team plays on the pitch. Rodgers is most certainly correct.

As The Analyst rightly suggest, the midfielder is one of the best midfielders in the league, and sits in good company when judged on several metrics:

"“Among [PL] midfielders, only Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg (780) has had more touches of the ball this season than Tielemans (707), while only the Tottenham man (626) and Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson (565) have attempted more passes than Leicester’s Mr Reliable (542)”"
