With the English midfielder pushing for a transfer away from Old Trafford, are Leicester City pursuing a deadline day deal for Manchester United’s Jesse Lingard?

Typically, the Foxes are reportedly monitoring the talented yet inconsistent Lingard. Why this is no surprise to Foxes of Leicester is that it is not the first or second time that LCFC have been connected with an interest in the player. And, inevitably, it won’t be the last.

In fact, in 2012/13 the current Red Devil was at King Power Stadium on loan from United. Whilst on Filbert Way, the Warrington-born man made a mere five appearances for the east Midlands outfit.

Are Leicester seeking another temporary transfer for Lingard? Well, deadline day stories suggest the Foxes are “monitoring” his situation. Yet Brendan Rodgers almost categorically ruled out any deals barring a ‘suitable’ loan for a centre-back. So this one feels unlikely.

According to the latest, Lingard has ‘agreed personal terms with Newcastle United as late deal being finalised‘.

Leicester City target’s explosion at West Ham United

Admittedly, Foxes of Leicester were not bowled over with the prospect signing Lingard on a temporary basis prior to his amazingly impactful stint at West Ham. The former England international was incredible for the Hammers. During that time he directly contributed to 14 goals in just 16 outings while in east London. Which is a simply terrific return.

Before that period Lingard’s career – especially in Manchester and with respect to his country England – had tailed off drastically. He was also ridiculed by many for valuing a cheesy-appearing social media career more than his football. If the former Derby County loanee plays anything like he did at West Ham for any other team, he’ll be back in the Three Lions fold.
