Luke Thomas – 5

This one feels harsh. Starting as the left man in a back four, Thomas was regularly left to fend for himself against the stellar displays of Djed Spence and Brennan Johnson. Harvey Barnes is perhaps more to blame for the lack of defensive involvement in that first half.

Things improved for the left-back when he moved into a left centre-back role, with James Justin moving into that left wing-back role ahead of him. Nevertheless, our young defender looked incoherent and not in-sync with anyone but James Maddison.

Caglar Soyuncu – 4

Need I say much about his performance? Apart from an improvement while playing in the centre of a back three, the Turkish international reminded us of why Jonny Evans is so important to the Foxes and why Rodgers could have easily chosen Hamza Choudhury instead.

Two issues were prevalent in his game. Firstly, the defender suffered from ‘taking responsibility’. The most senior of our centre-backs on that pitch, Cags should have been the composing leader and core of the team. However, this pressure clearly makes the CB a little poor in decision-making. For multiple Forest chances, Soyuncu was caught either going too far out or not far enough.

Daniel Amartey – 5

The Ghanaian defender actually tried. He had a great shot on target. Yet, as a product of how the defender was also left to shoulder most defensive responsibilities as Youri Tielemans failed to assist in shielding and pressuring attackers in the first half means Amartey was being entrusted to do Wesley Fofana’s job.

Amartey is no Fofana. The danger sense is not there. The constant drives forward is not there. In short, the defender could be higher up the rankings were it not for poor performances elsewhere. It would also have helped if someone was capable of heading a ball from a corner.
