Rodgers starting to lose Leicester dressing room claim
Speculation over Brendan Rodgers’ future as Leicester City manager is rife in the media and amongst Foxes supporter. Has the boss now lost the dressing room, as well?
Losing to Liverpool isn’t something many managers can be measured against. Certainly, some do better than others. Elites such as Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City, and formerly Manchester United the cases in point. Brendan Rodgers managed his Leicester team to Premier League victory over the Reds in December, actually. With Jurgen Klopp’s men only narrowly defeating the east Midlands outfit in the Carabao Cup prior to that.
So there are areas even this season where Rodgers and his side have, dare I say it, overachieved. I know that word is still raw to hear for LCFC fans, especially being one of them myself.
Nevertheless, on the whole this campaign has been a relative disaster for the Foxes, who aimed for progress following the double Champions League disappointments. Regression is where the King Power club are currently, to be exact. The chairman won’t put up with that for long.
Though there is already a rumour that Rodgers has received private backing from the LCFC board; a known poisoned chalice. Once the dreaded vote of confidence is delivered publicly, it essentially delivers the boss’s fate. Another suggestion is that a shock replacement is being lined up for the Northern Irishman’s position. Time will tell.
Has Brendan Rodgers lost the Leicester City dressing room?
In past months, there have been definite times in matches when some players appear not to be making as much effort as possible. Along with sloppy mistakes, underwhelming displays and a distinctly unhappy aura. See the Nottingham Forest highlights for the best example.
On the contrary, decent wins also occur occasionally, too. Sometimes the squad seem very buoyant; and they’ve additionally demolished a few of their opposition. Meanwhile young stars such as Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Luke Thomas and Patson Daka emerged. Therefore, a claim that respect for the 48-year-old is evaporating within the squad is interesting:
"Brendan Rodgers is under mounting pressure to continue as coach of Leicester City.Sources say the Leicester dressing room has started to turn against Rodgers, who has been under consideration at Manchester United to become their next manager, since his excoriating comments in the wake of their FA Cup mauling by Nottingham Forest on Sunday.…a dressing room source described Rodgers’ situation as ‘not good’.Manchester Evening News"
